Acoustic panel walls

The new acoustic panel walls for the cooling towers were designed as follows:

  • 8 acoustic walls per cooling tower (16 walls altogether) in the form of an octagon.
  • Dimensions wall: approximately 3500 X 5300 x 85,5 mm (W x H x D).
  • Material: aluminium sheet, filled with high-quality absorbing material.
  • Attached to the existing steel construction and secured with finishing profiles to prevent motion of the panels.
  • Executed absorbing at the side of the ventilator, at the outside blind.
  • Acoustic absorption conform EN 1793-1 and sound insulation conform EN 1793-2.

The request of this assignment consisted of the replacement of panel walls by new types. These new walls are executed in aluminium, so they resist corrosion better.

PTA

Purified Terehpthalic Acid (PTA) is an aromatic acid that is mainly applied in the manufacturing of polyesters like PET. The BP location Chembel in Geel (BE) is the biggest manufacturer of PTA in Europe. Worldwide, BP is one of the biggest in the production of this aromatic acid.

Cooling towers

Industrial processes like the PTA-production use water to cool. Therefore cooling towers are needed. However, these towers produce noise, which is mainly caused by the rotating blades. When a factory stands close to a residential area, this can cause nuisance. Alara-Lukagro thinks along with the client and delivers custom-made solutions for similar noise problems.

Alara-Lukagro’s walls guarantee adequate capacity and wind load, as a result of wind and steel construction calculations. Moreover our walls are maintenance friendly due to easily removable panels and can be quickly installed due to the sliding system.

Do you have machines or installations that emit too much noise? An acoustic wall may be the ideal solution.
