20ft container converted into EPU for offshore pipe layer
Huisman Global Services (HGS) was looking for a partner that could develop a container for an Electrical Power Unit (EPU). The EPU would be installed on the offshore pipe layer Lewek Constellation owned by EMAS. Alara-Lukagro was selected as the partner to adapt and deliver the complete 20ft container for the EPU.
Fully adapted 20ft container
Container’s properties
The 20ft container was fully adapted so that it is optimally suited as an EPU container. It was designed as follows:
- Fully insulated with soundproof panels
- Fitted with a complete air outlet set and HVAC system
- Fitted with a removable computer floor and electrical installations
- Access door at the rear of the container
- Approved in accordance with DNV 2-7.1 and NEN 12079 (both related to transport requirements for offshore containers).
Huisman carried out the (electrical) work at Alara-Lukagro’s site. This meant the container could be fully constructed before it was transported to the ship.
