Development doors

From 1 November 2019 it is mandatory to supply fire-resistant doors with a CE marking in accordance with EN 16034. Alara-Lukagro is already ready for this and already supplies doors with CE marking. All necessary fire tests have been achieved and the production of the doors takes place according to a documented FPC (Factory Production Control) system.

Despite the fact that Alara-Lukagro as the first supplier in the Netherlands is fully ready to deliver doors with CE marking, we continue to test.

Why are we still doing that?

Application area tests

The scope of a door is also determined with the CE mark. Think of the dimensions, the hinges and locks, the addition of a window or a combination with other properties such as the application as an escape door (a property that must also be CE certified). The application area is recorded by a notified body in an assessment report. If you deviate from this, you may only do so within the rules of the EXAP (Extended Applications in accordance with EN 15269). The supplier then shows the performances by means of a Declaration of Performance (DoP statement).

These rules are stricter than in the past. Providing a different application based on an assessment by a notified body is also no longer possible after 1 November. Every variant of the tested version must be assessed according to the EXAP and, if necessary, additional tests must be carried out. Certainly in the field of permissible hinges and locks, that is a major task. We are at the forefront of this and have even successfully tested a fire-resistant EI1 60-minute fire-resistant door with a single-point closure.

For Alara-Lukagro, it means that we continue to test all kinds of variants of the doors in order to be able to meet the wishes of our customers within current and future legislation.

Points of attention fire-resistant doors

So what do you have to pay attention to when you buy a fire-resistant door:

  • Is the supplier in possession of a valid CE declaration of conformity;
  • Does the execution of the door demonstrably fall within the permissible application area;
  • Are these characteristics demonstrated by the supplier by means of a DoP statement.
