From waste to energy
02/04/2012
Keppel Seghers designed and build a waste-to-energy-plant for GMW (Greater Manchester Waste, London). This waste-to-energy plant has a total capacity to treat 750,000 tonnes of waste per year and generate, at full capacity, 70 MW of electricity and 51 MW of heat.
Within the heat generation station an ID-fan allows the flue gasses, coming from the upstream located furnace, boiler and flue gas treatment plant, to be released to the atmosphere through the chimney. Noise emanates from the ID-fan, which has to be attenuated. Alara-Lukagro designed, fabricated, tested and delivered a solution to attenuate the noise, with a guaranteed result.
